Course curriculum

This course focuses on exploring, identifying, and then embodying what makes you strong, capable, resilient, and beautiful. Through the 8 weeks of this course, you will raise your consciousness regarding your own experience with the strengths perspective and work to challenge the patriarchal narrative that reinforces self-criticism, self-doubt, and at times, self-loathing. You will work on embodying your strengths by using your hands, senses, emotions, perceptions, and thoughts to create a Stand Strong Tree Sculpture that will be a tangible representation of your strengths. You will learn from other Wise Women's wisdom throughout the course that will increase your own insight and wisdom.

About the Instructor

Sarah Coffman (she/her)

Founder of A Space for Wise Women, Clinical Social Worker, Educator & Creator

Sarah is a clinical social worker in private practice specializing in women’s issues in Saint Louis. She is an experienced educator, having taught at Washington University’s graduate social work program for over a decade and has run innumerable psycho-educational groups throughout her 25 years of experience. Sarah’s professional passion is creating psycho-educational curricula to address the needs of women in her weekly empowerment groups, which is now the foundation for A Space for Wise Women Courses. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her life’s work with any woman who is open and curious. When not working with women or designing curricula, she is outside in her hammock, imperfectly playing guitar, singing, expressing herself with art, writing, music, dance, and movement, and connecting with those close to her heart.
